Workaround 3: Go to your Origin install directory, it should be something like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin and delete or rename OriginThinSetupInternal.exe It will not be able to launch the Steam version of the Origin overlay without this file. So those are what people had been doing, but this did not satisfy me, so today I decided to get down to the bottom of it, and figure out how to launch the games from the jump menu, or the regular windowed Steam client, and have the Steam overlay work, like in every other game. And if you are using Steam Input, you will have to switch bindings every time you switch to a different game. This causes the performance hit to go away, but if you are using a controller to launch this can cause problems, as you will need a mouse to launch the games. Workaround 2: Having made sure to disable Origin's overlay from the client, add Origin as a Non Steam Shortcut, use Steam to launch the games from Origin, this will enable the Steam overlay in game.
